A bug is a stealthy placed piece of equipment that has a listening and viewing (microphone and radio transmitter) to detective movement or conversations. In 2015 and the modern era they are cheap making it easy and accessable for pretty much anyone to get their hands on one.
These are the most commonly used surveillance equipment and bugs used today:
Landline Wiretaps – Grabs communication from signals on a telephone landline. It is currently (and will most likely stay) illegal in every state of the United States. The only way one is legal is through an official court order. Unfortunately, this federal law doesn’t stop certain invididuals from placing one.
Cell Phones and other handheld devices – easiest way for someone to listen in on communications, sent and receieved call signals and any conversation said in the physical location of the actual device.
Audio Bugs – these are placed in the area where someone wants to hear a conversation. They are almost always listening AND recording. With technology advancing at a rapid pace they are getting smaller and cheaper making them hard to find/detect. Specialized equipment and training is required.
Hidden Cameras – Like audio bugs, they can be small and are always placed where someone needs a beat on what someone is physically doing. More rare than audio currently but still prevalent.
People place bugs for a variety of reasons:

We ask that you keep the following information in mind when calling us:
–Size of area needed to be swept
–Please do not call us in the area you believe is bugged as it will tip the other party off and they may remove it.
–Bug Sweeps are one of our most expensive services and can require hours to accomplish depending on size. We charge per square foot. We offer discounts if doing multiple buildings or areas.
People will place bugs around 20 feet or less from where they believe the conversations are taking place. The person almost always knows you so they will know where to place them.
