Greetings! I’ve been working on a lot of projects and now that I’ve wrapped a couple up I plan to do some more blogs. I am producing a lengthy one which should be completed in two weeks. I know a lot of people will find it entertaining. For now I have an interesting topic for people curious about our gear and how technology has advanced our profession. Most of these advances are good things and unlike my last topic about technology this is a positive one.
When Allan Pinkerton created his agency in 1850 he didn’t have access to nearly any of the gear tech that we do today. He could still accomplish what his clients wanted but imagine if he could utilize what we have available today?
Even since becoming a private investigator over 5 years ago technology has really gone quite fast. We have cars that can drive themselves, Apps on phones that make peoples lives much easier (Uber, Lyft, food delivery services), cars with wifi, households fully integrated by Apple and Android products.. the list goes on.
Most of these advances are good things – and this topic, unlike my last about technology is to compliment how far we’ve come.
So what advances has come to our profession?
-More sophisticated software and databases for gathering information. We’re able to provide information to clients at a hastened rate while usually charging less than competition. For example: CLEAR Online Investigation software
-Cameras that zoom farther, faster and SD cards that hold more information. The quality of photos and videos in 2016 has never been better and it will only improve as time goes on.
-Proprietary secure databases that report findings and evidence to clients that is view able almost 24/7 at their leisure. Communication between agency and customer has gained some interesting advantages. Preparing for court, accessing reports and getting peace of mind is available at the touch of your fingertip.
-Networking between other PI agencies is quick, friendly and and always accessible via the internet. This translates to a higher information flow and if needed collaboration within our profession and others. For example: Linkedin groups with over 10,000 investigators worldwide.
-Smart phones are a godsend to the PI profession. Mapping locations, locating people through social media, taking covert photos. I could go on for days about the tools smart phones have provided us.
-Internet web sites have become invaluable resources for our profession. Need to pull a voicemail without calling or alerting the subject? Sign up for spydialer premium (last I checked 9.99 a year, very inexpensive)
Not to mention almost all of our services have been improved at some capacity just by advancement in technology. It’s a scary and exciting era in humanity. If you have a question or comment feel free to tweet us or post here and we’ll answer!
